THREE AMBUSH PLAYERS RECOGNIZED IN WEEKLY AWARDS

Three St. Louis Ambush players have received accolades from the Major Arena Soccer League for their performance in the final two games of the team’s 2014-15 season, the league announced today.

In two games played during week 18, the Ambush earned a 14-9 victory over the Tulsa Revolution in Tulsa on Friday, February 20, then returned home to the Family Arena to defeat the Tacoma Stars 13-3 on Saturday, February 21.

Forward Gordy Gurson (right) was named to the MASL Team of the Week. Gurson tallied two goals and two assists in Friday’s duel, then came back the next night and added a hat trick. Since joining the Ambush in a January 12 trade, Gurson has recorded 10 goals and six assists in 10 games played. He finished his rookie season with 46 goals and 18 assists.

Veteran forward Elvir Kafedzic (left) received Honorable Mention from the MASL. Kafedzic scored two goals and an assist on February 20. In the season finale on February 21, he dominated with four goals, including the game-winner, and one assist. Kafedzic accumulated 18 goals and 14 assists for the season.

Midfielder Anthony Arico (right) also earned an Honorable Mention from the league. Arico contributed a hat trick and an assist in St. Louis’ victory on February 21. Arico joined the Ambush in a February 1 trade with Milwaukee. He has recorded five goals and two assists in three appearances with the team. Arico’s rookie season totals are seven goals and five assists.

The Ambush finished the season with an 8-12 record, doubling the number of wins from their 2013-14 inaugural season. They also finished among the top three teams in the league in both total and average attendance.
