AMBUSH ACQUIRE DEFENDER PATRICK THOMPSON

St. Charles, Missouri (February 16, 2021) – The St. Louis Ambush have acquired defender Patrick Thompson from the Harrisburg Heat for the remainder of the 2021 season, the team announced today. Thompson joins teammates Jerjer Gibson and William Eskay, who the Ambush acquired last week from the Heat. Harrisburg announced on February 5 that they would opt out of the 2021 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Per league and team policies, no further details of the transaction have been disclosed.

Thompson hails from Norfolk, Virginia and is a veteran of seven professional arena soccer season. In 136 career games, he has tallied 41 goals, 36 assists and has blocked 68 opponent shots. He has played for the Pennsylvania Roar (2013-14), Syracuse Silver Knights (2016-18), and two stints with the Heat (2014-16 and 2018-20).

Ambush co-owner and GM Jeff Locker said, “As we head into the final month of the regular season, and with an eye on the playoffs, we are happy to be able to strengthen our roster with the addition of an experienced player like Patrick.”

The Ambush host the San Diego Sockers in a two-game set on Friday, February 26 at 7:35 p.m. CST and Sunday, February 28 at 3:05 p.m. CST at the Axius Field at the Family Arena. February 26 is also Retro Night with the Ambush wearing 1979 St. Louis Steamers replica kits and the Sockers wearing corresponding throwback kits of their own from the era. Alumni players who have played for previous Steamers, Storm and Ambush professional clubs are also invited to attend this game and will be provided with two complimentary tickets per player by emailing info@stlambush.com.
