AMBUSH ACQUIRE VETERAN DEFENDER SAM GUERNSEY
St. Charles, Missouri (July 3, 2020) – The St. Louis Ambush have acquired the rights to veteran defender Sam Guernsey from the Baltimore Blast, the team announced today. Per league and team policies, no further details of the transaction have been disclosed.
Guernsey, 27, is a veteran of seven professional indoor soccer seasons. He played two seasons with the Tulsa Revolution (PASL and MASL) from 2013-15, three seasons with the Cedar Rapids Rampage (MASL) from 2015-18 and two seasons with the Baltimore Blast (MASL) from 2018-20. Guernsey compiled 31 goals and 19 assists in 113 career regular season games. He also brings postseason experience to the Ambush, having appeared in two playoff games with Cedar Rapids during the 2017-18 season and four playoff games with Baltimore during the 2018-19 season. He has also played two seasons of outdoor soccer with the Cedar Rapids Rampage United (PLA).
A native of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Guernsey played collegiate soccer at Oklahoma Christian University. Prior to college, he was a four-year starter at Broken Arrow High School.
Ambush Head Coach Hewerton, who previously coached Guernsey in Cedar Rapids, called him a “great player, hard worker and a man of character.” Ambush General Manager Jeff Locker stated that Guernsey is “an important part of our long term plans.”
