AMBUSH ADD GOALKEEPER JOSE RESENDIZ

by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, Missouri (December 30, 2021) – The St. Louis Ambush have added goalkeeper Jose Resendiz to their roster, the team announced today. Per league and team policies, no details of the deal were disclosed.

Resendiz is a native of Streamwood, Illinois. He comes to the Ambush with four seasons of indoor soccer experience, all spent with the Chicago Mustangs in both the MASL (2016-17) and M2 (2017-18, 2018-19 and 2020-21) divisions. His goals against average in three MASL games is 7.10 with a .593 save percentage. In 14 career M2 games, Resendiz compiled a 6.86 goals against average and .541 save percentage. Jose also played two seasons with the Brew City Legends FC in the PASL.

Resendiz played high school soccer at Streamwood High School and collegiate soccer at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa.

Ambush co-owner and General Manager Jeff Locker said, “With Paulo out for the season, we felt we needed to fortify the goalkeeping position and we expect Jose Resendiz to fit in well with our team.”

Resendiz comes to the Ambush on the recommendation of former Ambush assistant coach/goalkeeper coach Mark Litton, who worked with Resendiz in his role as assistant coach for the Brew City Legends team. Litton said, “Jose came to us last year looking for an opportunity to have the level of competition needed to get back to the MASL. He worked very hard in training and in games to sharpen his skills. When he told me he wanted to train with the Ambush, I reached out to coach Muhr and assistant coach Swanner to get Jose into a few training sessions. It came as no surprise when Jeff Locker reached out to me with the news that he wanted to sign Jose. He’s more than ready and I’m very happy that he’s able to join a quality Ambush team back in the MASL.”

The Ambush will be back in action with a pair of games against the Dallas Sidekicks this Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, December 30, the two teams will clash at 7:00 p.m. CST at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas. The Ambush will then close out the 2021 calendar year at home as the two teams will meet again in a New Year’s Eve matinee affair at 3:05 p.m. CST at The Family Arena. The December 31 match will be followed by the popular annual Kid’s Bash with a balloon drop on the field after the game.

Tickets for all remaining Ambush home games are available at the Family Arena box office and at ticketmaster.com. Fans can stay current on all Ambush news by visiting the team’s official website, stlambush.com and on social media outlets.
