AMBUSH BRING BACK GOALKEEPER “POLLO” CORTES
St. Charles, Missouri (January 22, 2026) – The St. Louis Ambush have signed goalkeeper Eduardo “Pollo” Cortes for the remainder of the 2025-26 season, the team announced today.
The 2025-26 season is Cortes’ sixth in the Major Arena Soccer League and is an extension of his second stint with the Ambush, which began last season. He has also played with the Mesquite/Texas Outlaws and San Diego Sockers. He was named to the MASL’s 2019-20 All-Rookie team.
Cortes was born in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico but calls Dallas, Texas home. In addition to his MASL career, Cortes has played with the North Texas Soccer Club (USL League 1), was signed by FC Dallas in 2017 and had a stint with Saint Louis FC (USL) in 2016. Prior to turning pro, Cortes played collegiate soccer at Indiana University and Purdue University Indianapolis and club soccer with the FC Dallas Academy.
Ambush General Manager and assistant coach Donnie Alberty said, “Pollo’s body of work speaks for itself. Along Paulo Nascimento, this gives our team a first-rate goalkeeping duo that can stand toe-to-toe with any team in the league.”
Cortes said, “No noise needed. My return is the message. This isn’t a comeback - it’s the continuation of a mission that never stopped. A mission to bring an MASL Championship to St. Louis. I’m ready to contribute at the highest level to make that goal a reality.”
The Ambush have a busy weekend ahead, with a home-and-away series against the Milwaukee Wave. On Saturday, January 24, the Ambush host the Wave at 4:05 p.m. CST at The Family Arena. The two teams then scuttle off to Milwaukee for a rematch on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 3:05 p.m. CST at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
