AMBUSH CLASH WITH COMETS FRIDAY IN INDEPENDENCE

St. Charles, MO

The St. Louis Ambush clash with cross-state and division rivals, the Missouri Comets, when the Ambush make their first road trip of the 2015-16 season Friday, November 20 to the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence.

The Ambush are hoping to rebound from a 9-7 home opener loss Saturday at the Family Arena. The Comets are looking to extend their amazing winning streak. They are 3-0 this season and have been triumphant in their last 28 regular season games. The last time the Comets lost during the regular season was February 9, 2013.

The Comets will be without the services of Leo Gibson, the league’s leading goal scorer last season. Gibson will be sitting out Friday’s contest thanks to a red card he received in Missouri’s 11-1 blowout of Harrisburg last Saturday. Even without Gibson, the Comets have an arsenal of offensive threats. Five different players scored 20 or more goals last season and six tallied 30 or more points. The Comets lost one of the league’s top goalkeepers during the off-season when Danny Waltman signed with the Tacoma Stars but Waltman’s replacement has done a stellar job in the nets thus far this season. Boris Pardo has registered a very respectable 4.84 goals against average and a .732 save percentage in Missouri’s three victories.

The Ambush are not without offensive firepower of their own. Last season’s Rookie of the Year, Gordy Gurson along with Lucas Almeida, Odaine Sinclair and Freddy Moojen and Elvir Kafedzic are all expected to be instrumental in the team’s offensive attack. St. Louis’ defensive unit did a superb job in protecting goalkeeper Marcelo Moreira in the team’s only game to date. The defense blocked 12 shots and Moreira was faced with only 17 save attempts in the game.

Following Friday’s I-70 showdown in Independence, the action moves to the Family Arena in St. Charles as the Ambush and Comets square off again on Black Friday, November 27, 2015 at 7:05 p.m.

Season, group and single game tickets are now on sale for all remaining home games. Call the Ambush office at 636-477-6363 for more information.
