St. Charles, MO (December 20, 2020) – The St. Louis Ambush lost 5-3 to the Dallas Sidekicks in a preseason Central Cup Tournament game Sunday afternoon at the Family Arena. The loss gave the Ambush an 0-3 record in the tourney, while Dallas finished 2-1.

The Sidekicks took a 2-0 lead on first quarter goals from Freddy Moojen and Felipe De Sousa. The second period saw only one goal when Julio Varela scored for Dallas, giving the Sidekicks a 3-0 lead at halftime.

The lone tally in the third quarter put the Ambush on the board for the first time in the game when Stefan Mijatovic found the back of the net. The Ambush continued to chip away at the lead with a restart goal when Lucas Almeida scored off a pass from Max Ferdinand early in the fourth quarter to make the score 3-2. Dallas answered on a top-of-the-arc restart when Lipe Andrade was able to beat Ambush goalkeeper Paulo to regain a two-goal lead (4-2). With Paulo out of the net, De Sousa was able to find the mark on a long distance shot to make the score 5-2. The Ambush responded with a rare short handed goal when Lucas Almeida was sent to the penalty box for holding and Pepe scored off a pass from Douglas Dos Santos for a 5-3 score that would hold until the final buzzer.

The Ambush kick off their 2021 regular season in January, with the home opener slated for January 16, 2021 at the Family Arena. Fans can stay current with all Ambush news by visiting the team’s official website, stlambush.com or on social media outlets.
