Thirty-three participants made their bid to be the newest members of the St. Louis Ambush when the team held their first open tryout of the 2015-16 season Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28 at Vetta Sports in St. Peters. Head Coach Daryl Doran and staff put the new recruits through drills and scrimmages during the two sessions. Prior to announcing cuts at the end of Sunday’s session, Doran urged players to keep working towards their goals. As an example, Doran pointed out that Ross MacGregor, who completed his rookie season last year with the Ambush, didn’t make the cut the prior year, but kept working at improving his skills, came back the next season and made the team. MacGregor is now a regular with the club and is signed for 2015-16.  MacGregor was among the handful of current Ambush players on hand to observe and help out the coaching staff.

Thirteen players made he cut and are expected to be asked back for further workout with the club during the summer. Ambush General Manager Andrew Haines liked what he saw over the weekend. “We had a good group of talented players show up. They showed a lot of drive and dedication,” Haines said. Haines added that the team plans to hold open tryouts again in the fall. Dates will be posted on the team’s website and Facebook page when they are finalized.

The Ambush will kick off their 2015-16 season in November. The schedule is expected to be announced in September. Season tickets are now on sale. For more information, call the Ambush office at 636-477-6363.
