AMBUSH COOL OFF THE HEAT 10-4

St. Charles, Missouri (March 17, 2023) – The St. Louis Ambush defeated the Harrisburg Heat 10-4 Friday night at The Family Arena. The win improved St. Louis to 8-10-2, while Harrisburg dropped to 5-14-1 and was officially eliminated from postseason play.

Harrisburg got on the board first when Andrew Hoxie was left unmarked in front of the goal and scored easily off a pass from Alejandro Chavez in the seventh minute of the first quarter. The Ambush answered when Sam Guernsey got a shot passed a diving Harrisburg goalkeeper Chase Vosvick in the eleventh minute. Each team would score again in the last two minutes of the period, with Triston Austin scoring for St. Louis and Lesia Thetsane for Harrisburg, to tie the score 2-2 at the end of the opening frame.

St. Louis took a 3-2 lead in the in the first minute of the second period on an absolute rocket of a shot by Robert Kristo from outside the arc. The Ambush took a 4-2 lead in the seventh minute when Vosvick went down to make a save and Marcel Berry was able to get off a shot before he got back to his feet. St. Louis increased the lead to 5-2 when Kristo was able draw Vosvick out far enough to get a clear shot at the net in the eleventh minute of the quarter and that score held until the halftime buzzer.

Dominic Francis scored for Harrisburg with a shot out of reach of St. Louis goalkeeper Mark Baker in the second minute of the third quarter to make it a 5-3 game. The Ambush answered when Brian Bement outmaneuvered an opposing defender with some fancy footwork on his way to a shot in the low corner of the goal in the eleventh minute, giving his team a 6-3 lead that held until the end of the period.

The first tally of the final stanza came from St. Louis’ Wil Nyamsi, who went on the long run and buried a shot in the fifth minute of the period to make it 7-3. With the sixth attacker in play for Harrisburg, Bement would notch his second of the contest less than two minutes later, followed by Will Eskay just under another minute later, to give the home team a 9-3 lead. St. Louis grew the lead when Wyatt Fowler gave his team their tenth goal in the tenth minute of the quarter. Danny DiPrima scored for the Heat in the fourteenth minute, making it a 10-4 winner for the Ambush.

Next for the Ambush is the home finale of the season when they host the Florida Tropics this Sunday, March 19 at 3:05 p.m. CDT. After this weekend’s action, the Ambush close out the season with three on the road. They visit the Milwaukee Wave on March 25 before closing out the season in Florida with games against the Tropics on March 31 and April 2. All Ambush games are available for webcast at twitch.com.
