Ambush Drop Preseason Contest in Cedar Rapids

by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, MO (October 14, 2017) – The St. Louis Ambush fell 9-4 to the Cedar Rapids Rampage in a preseason exhibition match at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids Saturday night.

Scoring for St. Louis came from Victor France, Joao Pepe, Dylan Hundelt and Jerjer Gibson. Ambush Head Coach Hewerton Moreira used a combination of returning players and prospects and he continues to fine tune his roster on the way to the opening of the regular season in November.

"It was a great test for us," Hewerton said. "The scoreboard doesn't translate how great our team played. We missed a few great opportunities, gave up a few silly goals, but it is an easy fix. We have a week now to work on our mistakes before our next match. The team is in the right direction and I am extremely confident that our team will improve tremendously."

The Ambush and Rampage will have a rematch, this time on the Ambush home turf, when they tangle in another preseason duel next Saturday, October 21 at 7:05 p.m. at the Family Arena as part of the free fan fest.

The Ambush open their 2017-18 schedule on the road when they face the Kansas City Comets on November 4. The Ambush kick off the home portion of the new season when they host the Milwaukee Wave on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 7:05 p.m. CST at the Family Arena. The 2017-18 season will be the fifth for the franchise, who has called the Family Arena home since 2013. November 11 is also Veterans Day, and the Ambush will recognize our Veterans during the game.
