Ambush Duel Milwaukee Friday at Family Arena

by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, MO (December 7, 2017) – The St. Louis Ambush are back in action at the Family Arena when they host the Milwaukee Wave Friday night at 7:35 p.m. CT.

The Wave invade the Family Arena with a 5-0 record and a firm grip on first place in the MASL Central Division. The Ambush have struggled and will take the field looking to turn around their season after a 0-6 start.

For the Ambush to be successful on Friday, they will need to find a way to slow Milwaukee’s potent offense that is tied with Cedar Rapids for the most goals scored (44) in the league. Midfielder Ian Bennett lead the Wave’s offense and is tied for the league lead in points (17) and leads the league in goals (14). Another dangerous member of Milwaukee’s offense is Max Ferdinand, who is tied for second in the league in assists with eight. If the Ambush can stop the Wave’s offensive attack, they will also need to find a way to score on goalkeeper Josh Lemos, who ranks fourth in the league in goals against average (4.83) and leads all goalkeepers in the league in wins with five.

The Ambush will be looking to player/coach Hewerton and Pablo Da Silva to help generate offense. Both lead the team in points with nine each. Anchoring the team’s defense is Robert Acosta (nine blocked shots) and Hewerton (six blocked shots).

After Friday’s fracas at the Family Arena, the Ambush and Wave will tangle again when they meet in Milwaukee next Saturday, December 16 at 7:05 p.m. CT. The next night (Saturday, December 17) the Ambush return home to host the Cedar Rapids Rampage at 3:05 p.m. CT.
