AMBUSH EXTEND ADAMSON TWO MORE YEARS

by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, MO (August 19, 2019) – The St. Louis Ambush have signed midfielder Corey Adamson to a two-year contract extension that will keep him in Ambush teal through the 2020-21 season. Per league and team policies, no further details were disclosed.

In making the announcement of Adamson’s extension, CEO Shelly Clark spoke in glowing terms of one of her team’s longest tenured players. She said, “This community knows Corey.  He’s the guy you see reading books to kids in school, he’s at events signing autographs, and he’s making hospital visits bringing smiles to kids faces.  He has such a big heart and gives very freely of himself.  That kind of dedication is reciprocated back to him by the fans who come to cheer him on and makes signs with his name and his number four. His passion and love for this game and its fans is undeniable. I’m elated with his choice to stay in St Louis and to continue to play for the Ambush.”

The 2019-20 season will be Adamson’s eighth as a pro. He joined the Ambush for their inaugural 2013-14 season after his previous season with the Las Vegas Legends was limited to one game due to injury. Corey made his mark on St. Louis early, scoring the first goal in franchise history in a 17-4 win over the Pennsylvania Roar on November 22, 2013 at the Family Arena. Adamson split the 2014-15 season between the Ambush and Milwaukee Wave then spent the 2015-16 season with the Cedar Rapids Rampage before returning to the Ambush as a free agent for the 2016-17 campaign. He has remained a fixture in St. Louis since.

Adamson has played as midfielder and forward during his career, which consists of 93 total games with 41 goals and 13 assists. Although he hails from Clearwater, Florida, Corey wasted no time settling in, relocating here with his wife Melissa. Adamson spent his collegiate career (2006-10) playing for USC-Aiken. He is a two-sport pro, having played as a kicker with the St. Louis Attack and River City Raiders arena football teams. Adamson also enjoys working with young soccer players and is National Soccer Director and Tournament Director for Panathinaikos Athletic Club, USA.

Adamson is looking forward to continuing his career with the Ambush. He said, “I’m extremely excited to continue my career here in St. Louis. My goal is to win a championship, and I believe this organization and Coach Hewerton are on the right path to do just that. I’m so fortunate to represent this city, and will do anything I can to bring it a ring!”

Ambush Head Coach Hewerton said “I’m extremely excited that Corey re-signed through the 2020-21 season. His experience on and off the field will be key for a successful season.”

Ambush season tickets are now on sale for their 2019-20 season, which kicks off in November. All home games are played at the Family Arena in St. Charles. Keep up to date with all Ambush news by following the team on their official website, stlambush.com and on Facebook and Twitter.
