Ambush Face Chicago Twice This Weekend

St.Charles, MO (November 24, 2016) – A St. Louis-Chicago sports rivalry resumes when the St. Louis Ambush and Chicago Mustangs clash in a home-and-home series this weekend. The first duel is at the Family Arena Saturday night, when the Ambush host the Mustangs at 7:05 p.m. Action shifts to the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, when the two teams square off Sunday afternoon at 3:05 p.m.

The Mustangs come to town looking to improve on their undefeated 2-0 record, while the Ambush (0-2) are looking to post their first victory of the young season. The two teams have battled six times over the past two seasons, with Chicago enjoying a 5-1 advantage in those matches.

The Mustangs tallied 16 goals in their first two games, with forwards Taylor Bond and Efrain “Wilo” Martinez accounting for 10 of those. Four Mustangs players (Bond, Martinez, Miguel Vaca and Oswaldo Rojas) have compiled four or more points in the two games, and the Ambush defense will have to find a way to curtail that potent offense if they are to earn their first win.

Defender Richard Schmermund (three goals) has provided most of the offense for the Ambush in their two games. The team has scored only three goals in each of the previous games, so they will need to find a way to ignite their offense if they are to make a mark in the win column this weekend.

Saturday’s game is the day after Black Friday and the Ambush are offering a Black Friday ticket discount to their fans. Fans can buy a ticket for Saturday’s game and get one free at the Family Arena box office.

Following this weekend’s pair of games against the Mustangs, the Ambush travel to Milwaukee to face the Wave Saturday, December 3 at 7:05 p.m. at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. The Ambush return home when they welcome the expansion Florida Tropics for the first time ever Friday, December 9 at 7:35 p.m. at the Family Arena.
