St. Charles, MO (November 22, 2018) – The St. Louis Ambush continue preparations for their 2018-19 regular season when they host the Kansas City Comets in a preseason exhibition contest this Saturday, November 24 at 6:00 p.m. in the indoor soccer arena at the Dellwood Recreation Center (right). Both teams are based in Missouri, are in the same division in the MASL and have avid fan bases that regularly make the trip for away games, creating a rivalry that is often intense and the action fierce and Saturday’s battle promises more of the same.

The Ambush are coming off an 8-5 win over the Dallas Sidekicks in their first preseason match last Sunday at the Family Arena. The team and Head Coach Hewerton Moreira hope to  stay on a winning path against the Comets on Saturday.

After giving up the first three goals in the game on Sunday, Ambush newcomers and veterans combined to overcome that deficit and build a lead in the second half. Antonio Manfut, signed as a free agent this summer, notched two goals and an assist, and veteran midfielder Corey Adamson posted two assists. Additional goals came from newcomer Mario Marcos (signed during the off-season), Justin Stinson (appeared in four games last season), JT Thomas (appeared in eight games last season), veteran Daniel Berko (entering his fourth season with the team), veteran Vadim Cojocov (entering his third season with the club), and veteran Jerjer Gibson (entering his sixth season as a pro and his second with the Ambush).

The Comets offense is led by scoring powerhouse Leo Gibson, who finished last season third in the MASL in points (58), tied for fifth in goals (30), and was second in assists (28). The Comets bolstered their defense in the net over the summer with the signing of goalkeeper Brett Petricek, who spent parts of the last two seasons with Cedar Rapids.

Tickets for Saturday’s preseason duel are $5 at the door, which open at 5:00 p.m. (Fans two years old and younger are free.) The Dellwood Recreation Center is located at 10266 West Florissant Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63136.

Following Saturday’s game, the Ambush will continue preparing for the regular season, which kicks off with road games on November 30 at Orlando, December 1 at Florida and December 8 at Harrisburg.

The upcoming season will consist of 24 games, with all 12 home games being played at the Family Arena in St. Charles. The home opener is slated for Sunday, December 16 at 3:05 p.m. CT when the Ambush host the Comets. Season, group and single game tickets are on sale for all home games.
