AMBUSH HOST EMPIRE STRYKERS SATURDAY AT FAMILY ARENA
Saint Charles, Missouri (December 7, 2023) – The St. Louis Ambush return home to The Family Arena when they host the Empire Strykers this Saturday, December 9 at 6:05 p.m. CT.
Saturday’s contest is the third of the 2023-24 regular season, and the only one this weekend, for each team. It is the first of two between the Ambush and Strykers slated for the regular season.
The Ambush got off to a slow start, narrowly losing to the Milwaukee Wave in overtime at home on November 24, then falling to the Kansas City Comets on the road December 3. The Strykers played two games in Mexico last weekend, losing to the Chihuahua Savage on November 24 and to the Monterrey Flash on November 26. Regardless of the final score on Saturday, either the Ambush or the Strykers will record their first win of the season and both teams are hungry to make their mark in the win column.
The Strykers are based in Ontario, California and were formerly known as the Ontario Fury before they rebranded in 2022. Saturday’s duel will also be a homecoming for St. Charles natives Justin Stinson and Howard Miller, Jr., who both had previous stints with the Ambush but now occupy spots on the Strykers’ roster.
Ahead of Saturday’s match, the Ambush signed goalkeeper Josue “Sway” Mazon to a short-term deal to fill in for regular keeper Paulo Nascimento, who is out of town on an excused absence. Mazon previously played in ten games for the Ambush during the 2021-22 season, preceded by five games with the Orlando Seawolves during the 2019-20 season. In 15 career games, Mazon compiled a 9.13 goals against average and a .566 save percentage.
After Saturday’s match, the Ambush will be in action twice next weekend. They travel to Milwaukee to clash with the Wave on Friday, December 15 at 6:35 p.m. CT, then return home to host the Dallas Sidekicks Sunday, December 17 at 3:05 p.m. CT.
