AMBUSH LOSE TO MILWAUKEE ON THE ROAD
Milwaukee, WI
The Milwaukee Wave handed the visiting St. Louis Ambush a 5-2 loss Sunday afternoon, December 6 at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. The win improved Milwaukee’s record to 4-2, while the Ambush fall to 0-5.
Milwaukee got on the board first when Max Ferdinand made a long pass to Tenzin Rampa, who found himself wide open and was able to score at 10:56 of the opening period. Less than a minute later (11:46), Wave forward Tony Patterson was able to work around Ambush defender Dylan Hundelt and fire a shot into the opposite corner of the goal to increase Milwaukee’s lead to 2-0.
St. Louis answered at 6:03 of the second quarter when Gordy Gurson, shooting from near the goal mouth, was able to beat Wave goalkeeper Nick Vorberg. The Wave went up 3-1 when Max Ferdinand was left unmarked in the penalty area and found the back of the net at 7:29. The Ambush responded quickly (8:24) when Odaine Sinclair was able to place a shot between the legs of Vorberg. Sinclair’s tally was the last for either team in the first half, which concluded with the Wave on top, 3-2.
Sinclair’s goal was the last of the first half and, unfortunately for the Ambush, would be their last of the game. The Wave shut out the Ambush in the second half as veteran goalkeeper Nick Vorberg executed one stunning save after another. Hans Dennisen and Sean Totsch scored for Milwaukee in the third quarter, and neither team scored in the fourth, resulting in Milwaukee’s 5-2 victory.
Vorberg made 14 saves on 16 attempts in goal for the Wave, while Marcelo Moreira saved nine on 14 attempts.
The Ambush return home to the Family Arena next Saturday, December 12, when they host Danny Waltman and the Tacoma Stars (5-1) at 7:05 p.m.
