AMBUSH LOSE TO SYRACUSE IN OVERTIME

Syracuse, NY – The St. Louis Ambush dropped a nail-biter on the road when they fell 3-2 to the Syracuse Silver Knights in an overtime shootout period Friday night at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, New York. The loss dropped the Ambush to 2-10, while Syracuse improved to 6-6.

Neither team scored in the opening period. JerJer Gibson put the Silver Knights up 1-0 with the first goal of the game at 5:14 of the second quarter. The Ambush drew even when Andre Hayne scored at 10:53 of the third quarter. The Silver Knights regained the lead on Darren Toby’s header into the goal at 13:46 of the third quarter. The Ambush tied the contest at 2:01 of the fourth quarter when Freddy Moojen found the back of the net off a pass from Lucas Almeida.

Neither team scored in the ten-minute sudden death overtime period, sending the game to a best-of-three shootout period. Neither Moojen or Richard Schmermund were able to score for the Ambush, while Doug Miller and Bo Jelovac both made good on their shootout attempts for the Silver Knights.

The Ambush return home to the Family Arena to close out the month with back-to-back home games next Friday, January 29 and Saturday, January 30. On January 29, the Ambush host the division-rival Chicago Mustangs at 7:35 p.m. On January 30, the Baltimore Blast come to town for a 7:05 p.m. showdown.
