AMBUSH PLAY ON ROAD FRIDAY, AT HOME SATURDAY

by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, MO (January 18, 2019) – The St. Louis Ambush have a busy weekend ahead, playing the Kansas City Comets on the road Friday night, then returning home to host Utica City FC on Saturday night at the Family Arena.  If two games in as many days, on the road then at home, isn’t challenging enough, both St. Charles and Independence are under a winter weather advisory.

On Friday night, January 18, the Ambush (4-5) battle the Kansas City Comets (4-4) at 7:35 p.m. CT at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence. The two teams have met three times this season, with the Ambush taking the first two games by identical 6-5 scores, then the Comets coming back to defeat the Ambush 10-4. After starting the season 1-4, the Comets enter Friday’s contest with a three-game winning streak. The Comets are presently in second place in the MASL South Central Division while the Ambush are right behind them in third, so a win for St. Louis on Friday night is necessary for the Ambush if they want to keep the race for the second playoff spot close as mid-season approaches.

After Friday’s match, the Ambush come home to the Family Arena in St. Charles to host Utica City FC at 7:05 p.m. CT Saturday, January 19. It will be the first and only encounter between the Ambush and Utica this season. Utica City FC, formerly known as the Syracuse Silver Knights, moved from Syracuse to Utica and changed the team name, prior to the start of the season. They have enjoyed success thus far, posting a 7-2 record and occupying first place in the MASL Eastern Division.

Following this weekend’s games, the Ambush will take a two-game road trip through Florida when they face the Orlando SeaWolves next Friday, January 25 at 6:35 p.m. CT at the Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, then tangle with the Florida Tropics the next night at 6:05 p.m. CT at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. The next Ambush home game is slated for Friday, February 1 at 7:35 p.m. CT when the Tropics invade the Family Arena. The February 1 contest is also the first game in a seven-game home stand. For those unable to attend in person, all MASL games are webcast live at masl.tv.
