St. Charles, MO (January 31, 2019) – The St. Louis Ambush play back-to-back home games at the Family Arena this weekend, hosting the Florida Tropics on Friday, February 1 at 7:35 p.m. CT and the Orlando SeaWolves on Saturday, February 2 at 7:05 p.m. This weekend’s games mark the start of a seven-game home stand for the Ambush, the longest home stand of the 2018-19 regular season.

Friday’s game is the fourth of six meetings between the Ambush and Tropics slated for the 2018-19 regular season. The Tropics come to town having won two of the three games played thus far between the two teams. Saturday’s contest against the SeaWolves is the third of four scheduled games between the two teams. The Ambush won both previous matches against Orlando this season.

The Tropics won 9-7 the last time they faced the Ambush, last Saturday, January 26 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, Florida. The Ambush won 7-6 in the most recent match against the SeaWolves, last Friday, January 25 on the SeaWolves’ home turf when Zach Reget scored the game winner with five seconds remaining in the game.

The Ambush are currently in third place in the MASL South Central Division with a 6-7 record, while Orlando is in fourth place at 3-5 and Florida occupies fifth place at 4-7. The Milwaukee Wave leads the division with a 9-2 record, leaving Kansas City, St. Louis, Orlando and Florida vying for second place, which garners the second playoff berth at the end of the regular season. Given the relatively close standings and the fact that all three teams are in contention for the postseason, spirited contests are likely in both games on the Family Arena turf this weekend.

Rookie forward Zach Reget leads the team in goals (15), points (16) and game-winning goals (2) and currently leads all rookies in the MASL in goals scored. He’s been named MASL Player of the Week once, named to the Sporturf Team of the Week twice and earned honorable mention three times, including last week. If he continues at this rate, he’s a candidate for Rookie of the Year.

With 15 points, Justin Stinson, another rookie, ranks right behind his roommate, Reget, in points and is second on the team in goals (nine).

Defender Axel Duarte is an important component of the Ambush defense and is currently tied for the league lead in blocked shots with 21.

Guilherme Dos Santos leads the team in points (20) and goals (15). He is also tied for fourth in the league in goals and is tied for seventh in the league in points.

Victor Parreiras has 13 points, good for second on the team. Tallied two goals and three assists against the Ambush last Saturday.

Max Touloute has emerged as the Tropics’ best playmaker. His eight assists leads the team in that category and he is third on the team in points with 11.

Antonio Manfut makes his first appearance at the Family Arena since being traded from the Ambush to the Tropics on January 16. Manfut played against the Ambush on the Tropics’ home turn last Saturday, helping his new team post a 9-7 win by contributing two goals and an assist.

Today the Tropics announced they had acquired Matt Clare from the Tacoma Stars. This season is Clare’s eighth in professional indoor soccer. He tallied five goals and two assists in ten games played with Tacoma this season.

Former Ambush player Gordy Gurson is tied for the team lead in goals (12) and assists (9) and is the leader in points (21).

Osvaldo Rojas is tied with Gurson in scoring goals and is second on the team in points (14).

Thiago Freitas, acquired after the start of the season from Harrisburg, has appeared in five games for Orlando, posting three goals and seven assists, including two of each against the Ambush in last Friday’s game.
