Ambush Post 8-4 Preseason Win

St. Charles, MO, October 29, 2016 -- The St. Louis Ambush continued tuning up for the 2016-17 season when they posted an 8-4 victory against a top amateur team Saturday night at Vetta Sports in St. Charles.  A standing-room-only crowd packed Vetta to watch the 2016 St. Louis Open Cup Champions provide the competition for the Ambush, who open their MASL season in just over two weeks.

The Ambush registered the long tally of the first quarter, thanks to Cody Blentlinger. By halftime, the Ambush would see their lead increase to 3-1 thanks to second quarter goals by Jonathan Ramos and Joao Pepe.

The boys in teal outscored their opponents 3-1 in the third quarter, thanks to goals from Richard Schmermund, Nate Kast, and Blentlinger's second tally of the contest. The open cup team staged a comeback with two goals in the final stanza, but the Ambush matched them when Daniel Berko and Carlos Contreas found the back of the net. 

The Ambush continue preseason play when they face the Illinois Shockwave of the Premier Arena Soccer League at the indoor soccer arena at the Dellwood Recreation Center, located at 10266 West Florissant Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63136 this Thursday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. Admission for the November 3 friendly is only five dollars for the general public and no charge for current Ambush season ticket holders, who should show their VIP Parking Pass at the door. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early.

The 2016-17 regular season kicks off November 13, when the Ambush battle cross-state and division rivals, the Kansas City Comets. The Ambush home opener is slated for Saturday, November 19, when the Tacoma Stars invade the Family Arena at 7:05 p.m. Group, season and single-game tickets are now on sale for all ten home games.
