AMBUSH SIGN DEFENDER GRANT MICHAELS

by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, Missouri (August 20, 2024) – The St. Louis Ambush have signed free agent defender Grant Michaels, the team announced today.

Michaels is a native of Kent, Washington and has spent time with the Tacoma Stars 2 and Dallas Sidekicks. He has also played with Newcastle Olympic in Australia, Flower City Union in New York, the Michigan Stars in Michigan and IFK Holmsund in Sweden.

Grant split his collegiate career between Bellevue College in Bellevue, Washington and the University of Texas at Austin. His prep career was spent at Kentwood High School in Covington, Washington. While many pros played soccer from the time they were first able to kick a ball, Michaels discovered his love of the sport at the relatively late age of 15. But he made up for lost time, becoming a skilled player at the high school, college and professional levels.

Ambush co-owner, General Manager and Head Coach Jeff Locker said, “With his size and physicality (6’4” and 200 pounds), Grant should be an imposing presence on defense and we look forward to his continued development with the Ambush.”

Michaels said, “I’m honored to be joining the St. Louis Ambush.. I know what this historic club means to the city and the fans. I’m really excited to contribute to the club’s success any way possible. It’s an exciting time to be in St. Louis.”

The Ambush will kick off their twelfth season when they take the field for their home opener at The Family Arena on Black Friday, November 29. Season tickets are now on sale.
