St. Charles, Missouri (November 26, 2024) – The St. Louis Ambush have signed free agent goalkeeper Eduardo “Pollo” Cortes for the 2024-25 season, the team announced today.
The 2024-25 season will be the fifth in the Major Arena Soccer League for Cortes and also marks his second stint with St. Louis. Cortes was born in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico but calls Dallas, Texas home. In addition to his MASL career, Cortes has played with the North Texas Soccer Club (USL League 1), was signed by FC Dallas in 2017 and had a stint with Saint Louis FC (USL) in 2016. Prior to turning pro, Cortes played collegiate soccer at Indiana University and Purdue University Indianapolis and club soccer with the FC Dallas Academy.
Ambush co-owner, General Manager and Head Coach Jeff Locker said, “Whenever you can have two starting-qualiy goalkeepers on your roster, it makes the team that much stronger. Having Paulo Nascimento and Poll Cortes is something we were fortunate to get done and it strengthens our efforts to field a playoff-caliber team.”
Cortes said, “Im thrilled to be back with the Ambush and excited to step on the field in St. Louis again. The energy there is unmatched, and the passion of the fans reminds me why St. Louis is so special. My last stint here we made the playoffs, but this time, the ambition is clear -- we’re here to win a championship. I want to thank Shelly and Jeff for the opportunity to be part of an organization like the Ambush. It’s a special feeling and I’m excited to rekindle the connections I made here the last time around.”
The Ambush will kick off their twelfth season when they take the field for their home opener at The Family Arena this Friday, November 29. Season, single-game and group tickets are now on sale.
