St. Charles, Missouri (July 6, 2020) – The St. Louis Ambush have signed free agent forward Max Ferdinand, the team announced today. Ferdinand, a veteran of 11 professional indoor soccer seasons, consistently ranks among the best players in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). The deal puts Ferdinand in an Ambush uniform for the next two seasons with a mutual option for a third year. Per league and team policies, no further details of the deal were disclosed.

Ferdinand has posted 181 goals and 211 assists in 226 career games. He made his mark early in his career, winning the MISL Rookie of the Year honor in 2010. Ferdinand played six seasons with the Baltimore Blast (MISL and MASL) from 2009 to 2015, before moving to the Milwaukee Wave (MASL), where he spent the last five seasons. A consistent offensive threat, Ferdinand has tallied 15 or more goals in eight of his 11 seasons. While he is a dependable scorer, Ferdinand is also a prolific playmaker, with more than 25 assists in each of his last four seasons. He finished in the top three in the league in that category each of the last four seasons as well, leading the league twice. Max is also a mainstay on the stat charts for points scored, finishing in the top ten each of the last four seasons in both total points and points per game average. Ferdinand also brings postseason experience to the Ambush, having won league championships with both Baltimore and Milwaukee.

Ferdinand grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania. In addition to his stellar arena soccer career, he played outdoor soccer for the FC Reading Revolution (NPSL) in 2009 and the Rochester Rhinos (USSF Division 2 Professional League/USL Pro) from 2010 to 2011.

Ambush Head Coach Hewerton sang the praises of his newest addition saying, “I’m very excited to bring a player of Max Ferdinand’s caliber to the Ambush. He will add the experience we need on the field to help guide the players to a great season.” Ambush co-owner and CEO Shelly Clark said, “Max choosing to become a part of the Ambush is a testament to our organization’s desire and dedication to put together a competitive team. He will be an asset to our team and I know our community will embrace him.”

Ferdinand is as happy to join the Ambush as the organization is to have him. He said, “I’m very excited to be signing with the St. Louis Ambush. After talking with the ownership, Coach Hewerton & several players it became an obvious decision. I’m looking forward to this new chapter in my life & can’t wait to be playing with this team!”

The Ambush will kick off their 2020-21 season this fall. Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Ambush office at 636-477-6363. For up-to-date information of Ambush news during the off-season, follow the team on their official website, and on social media.
