AMBUSH SIGN ROOKIE DEFENDER CHRISTIAN BRIGGS

St. Charles, Missouri (February 4, 2021) – The St. Louis Ambush have signed defender Christian Briggs to a one-year contract, the team announced today. Per league and team policies, no further details of the agreement were disclosed.

Briggs is a native of Arimal, Trinidad and Tobago, but he played collegiate soccer locally at St. Louis University. After playing high school soccer at St. Mary’s in Trinidad and Tobago, Briggs started 27 games in three seasons at SLU before transferring to Loyola University Chicago, where he appeared in 11 games, making nine starts. He has also played at the club level for Ma Pau, for San Juan Jabloteh in the Trinidad Professional Reserve League, and for the USL PDL Chicago Inferno.

Briggs also enjoys coaching and serves as Assistant Coach for the boy’s soccer program at Clayton High School and he also coaches for the Missouri Youth Soccer Association’s Olympic Development Program. He has also coached at Marquette High School and St. Louis Scott Gallagher.

Ambush co-owner and General Manager Jeff Locker said, “Christian Briggs lives in the St. Louis area and has played and coached locally, plus he has international playing experience, so he brings us the best of both worlds.”

Briggs said signing his first professional contract is “a dream come true” and added that he us excited to join the Ambush organization. “There is so much history behind the team and soccer here in St. Louis. To be a part of it is really special to me as I’ve been fortunate to call this city my home for the past several years. A huge thank you to my wife, my family and friends both here in St. Louis and back home in Trinidad who have been so supportive in this opportunity. Looking forward to the chance to represent the club both on and off the field,” he said.

The Ambush return to action with back-to-back home games this weekend, hosting the Ontario Fury Friday, February 5 at 7:35 p.m. CST with a return engagement slated for Saturday, February 6 at 7:05 p.m. CST.
