St. Charles, MO (December 14, 2016) – The St. Louis Ambush are back in action at the Family Arena when they host the Central Division rival Cedar Rapids Rampage Sunday, December 18 at 3:05 p.m.

The Rampage are off to a 6-2 start and occupy first place in the Central Division. The Ambush are 1-6 and looking to turn their season around. With only 4.5 games separating the first place Rampage and last place Ambush, there is still time for St. Louis to climb back into contention and there would be no better way to do that than to knock off the first-place team. The last time these two teams met was in preseason action, with the Rampage defeating the Ambush 6-2 October 7 in Cedar Rapids, and the Ambush returning the favor with an 8-6 victory October 9 at the Family Arena.

Cedar Rapids comes to town with the momentum of a five-game winning streak. Their most recent win was an 8-7 triumph over the Kansas City Comets December 10. The Ambush lost 8-2 to the Dallas Sidekicks in their most recent outing on December 10, but won their last home game when they staged a thrilling 8-6 come from behind victory over the Florida Tropics on December 9.

Offensively, Cedar Rapids is led by the 2014-15 MASL Rookie of the Year and former member of the Ambush, Gordy Gurson. Gurson has 12 goals and six assists and is one of three Rampage players who have posted double-digits in points eight games into the season. Defensive leaders for the Rampage include Jonatan Santos and Joshio Sandoval who each have 10 blocks. The last line of defense for any team is the goalkeeper and Cedar Rapids goalkeeper Brett Petricek’s 5.21 goals against average is good for sixth in the league and his .706 save percentage ranks fifth, while his six wins are the best in the MASL.

Stefan St. Louis is the points leader for the Ambush with six, while Corey Adamson is the scoring leader with five goals. Kentaro Takada has emerged as one of the team’s leading playmakers and leads the team in assists with five.
