The St. Louis Ambush added firepower to their 2015-16 roster when they signed Lucas Bunster Almeida on Monday. Almeida is coming off a standout rookie season that saw him register 23 goals and 19 assists in 19 games played for the Tulsa Revolution. He led the Revolution in goals, assists and points and was second on the team in blocks. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native also represented his home country as a member of Brazil’s squad in the WMF Arena Soccer World Cup.

Growing up in Brazil, Almeida began playing soccer at an early age for many established clubs, including Santos and GR Barueri, before coming to the United States in 2010. He spent his collegiate career at Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, OK. A four year captain and starter at OKWU, Almeida was First Team MCAC All Conference all four years, 2012 Player of the Year. In 2013, Almeida led his team to the NAIA National Tournament where he was selected NAIA First Team All-American. Almeida finished his career at OKWU with 51 goals and 34 assists in 74 games.

In addition to his rookie indoor season with Tulsa last year, Almeida has played professionally outdoors with Mississippi Brilla FC (PDL) and Vermont Voltage (PDL).

In three games between St. Louis and Tulsa last season, Almeida tallied five goals and four assists against the Ambush, including a four goal performance on February 20. “We were impressed with Lucas when we played against him last season,” said Ambush General Manager Andrew Haines. “He’s a legitimate offensive threat and we are happy we were able to get a deal done to bring him to St. Louis for the coming season.”

The Ambush will kick off their 2015-16 season in November. Season tickets are on sale and start at only $100 for all ten home games. The schedule is expected to be released in September.
