Ambush Win Exhibition Contest

Belleville, IL (June 23, 2018) -- The St. Louis Ambush defeated St. Louis Maritsa FC 2-0 in an exhibition match Saturday evening at Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville, IL. Carlos Contreras scored the first Ambush goal in the 12th minute of the first half and player/coach Hewerton scored the second on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute of the second half. 

Ambush goalkeeper Paulo earned the shutout in goal, turning in a stellar performance that included a phenomenal save on a penalty kick by Maritsa's Eric Ocampo in the first half. 

The rare outdoor appearance by the Ambush, a member of the Major Arena Soccer League, was part of a double header presented by the Ambush and the Fire & Ice Soccer Club. The Ambush and Maritsa squared off prior to Fire & Ice hosting the Kansas City Courage in a regular-season WPSL game. Fire and Ice, the defending WPSL Champions, improved their record to 4-0-1 with a 3-0 win in that duel.
