Ambush Win Final Preseason Contest 8-2

Dellwood, MO, November 3, 2016 -- The St. Louis Ambush won their final preseason game 8-2 over the Illinois Shockwave of the Premier Arena Soccer League at the indoor soccer arena at the Dellwood Recreation Center Thursday night.

The Ambush took an early lead with first quarter goals by Stefan St. Louis, Daniel Berko, Vadim Cojocov and Chris Mattingly. Cojocov opened the scoring in the second quarter, followed by a tally from Carlos Contreras, to put the Ambush up 6-0 at the halftime break.

The Ambush increased their lead to seven when Joao Pepe scored the first goal of the third quarter. The Shockwave answered with back-to-back tallies from Teejay Tostado and Almin Sabotic to make the score 7-2 at the end of the third period.

Cojocov completed the hat trick early in the final stanza and it would be the last goal of the night to seal the 8-2 win for the Ambush.

The Ambush open the 2016-17 regular season on the road in ten days when they battle cross-state and division rivals, the Kansas City Comets on Sunday, November 13 at 5:05 p.m. The Ambush home opener is set for Saturday, November 19, when they host the Tacoma Stars at 7:05 p.m. at the Family Arena.
