DONNIE ALBERTY NAMED HEAD COACH OF ST. LOUIS AMBUSH 2

by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, Missouri (November 30, 2023) – St. Louis Ambush assistant coach Donnie Alberty has added another role to his collection of duties within the organization. Alberty has been named head coach of the St. Louis Ambush 2 team, which kicks off as a new addition to the MASL 2 (M2) developmental league this season.

Alberty joined the Ambush as an Assistant Coach in November, 2020 and added the role of Director of Scouting in January, 2023. He will keep both of those positions in addition to taking the reigns of the M2 Ambush. Alberty is also Head Coach of Men’s Soccer at Fontbonne University.

Alberty has over 25 years’ coaching experience. Prior to his stint at Fontbonne, Alberty spent two seasons and head men’s soccer coach at St. Charles Community College. In addition to his coaching role, Coach Alberty is a member of the Fontbonne University Mental Health Awareness Committee and is the Director of Compliance.

Coach Alberty has coached with numerous clubs in the St. Louis area and holds a USSF License. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Missouri Baptist University. He resides in St. Peters with his wife Tammy and children, Bryce and Abby.

Alberty said, “I am very thankful and grateful to (Ambush owners) Shelly and Jeff for my experience within the Ambush organization. As the Director of Scouting, I have been part of bringing in several players that we, as an organization, are excited about. In the past, we were not able to get them enough actual game experience and so we were not really able to properly evaluate them. We developed the M2 team to give these players an opportunity to train and play in our environment and develop to their full potential. I am excited to be the M2 coach because I feel like identifying talent and then developing an environment to allow those players to flourish is one of my main strengths. Our goal as an organization is to win an M1 title, so we are planning on developing players at the M2 level that can help with that goal. In addition, hopefully this will give our fans an opportunity to get to know some of these players and follow their journey from M2 to M1, which is an exciting part of being a supporter.”

Ambush CEO and co-owner Shelly Clark said, “Coach Alberty brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has already proven to be good at recognizing rising talent and now having an M2 team will give him and the organization even more opportunity to assess and develop rising players for the benefit of the M1 Ambush team.”

The senior Ambush team takes to the road for their next game when they journey across Missouri when to square off with their cross-state rivals, the Kansas City Comets, on Sunday, December 3 at 4:05 p.m. CT at the Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence. The next Ambush home game is slated for Saturday, December 9 when they host the Empire Strykers at 6:05 p.m. CT at The Family Arena.
