INDOOR PROFESSIONAL LEAGUE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED AND OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Baltimore, MD – It was announced today that the Indoor Professional League is officially open for business. The IPL is a new professional indoor soccer league that will host teams throughout North America. The League has announced four teams that will be inaugural members with more teams to be announced in the next 90 days. The inaugural season for the league will begin in November, with teams playing 20 total games, 10 home and 10 away.

The first team is one of the most successful professional indoor soccer franchises to date, the Baltimore Blast. The Blast was originally founded in 1980 and has won 8 championships since their establishment. In 1992 the team was renamed the Baltimore Spirit, before rebranding in 1998 under the full ownership of Ed Hale, who returned the name to the Blast. The Blast plays their home games at Royal Farms Arena with a seating capacity of just over 11,000. The team is still under the ownership of Hale, and has won 7 championships since the year 2003, including the most recent 2015-16 season. The team has an established fan base and presence in their market, averaging over 6,000 fans a game for the past 10 years. The second team that has been officially announced is also a very historic franchise. The original St. Louis Ambush were also founded in 1992, but folded in the year 2000. Entrepreneur Andrew Haines resurrected the team in 2013, keeping the same name and colors, while establishing a new logo with a similar theme. The current team has no affiliation to the former franchise, other then having the same name. The current Ambush plays at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO, with a seating capacity of approximately 10,000. The Harrisburg Heat is the third team that will be joining the IPL. Like the Blast and Ambush, the Heat also have a history in professional indoor soccer. The original Heat were founded in 1991, and dissolved in 2003. The team was brought back to life in 2012, and have been in existence ever since. Since their original establishment in 1992, the team has played at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center, averaging anywhere between 1500-6000 fans per game. The last team that has been announced is a new organization, Florida Tropics SC. Based in Lakeland, Florida, the Tropics will play their home games at the historic Lakeland Center. The Lakeland Center can hold around 6000 fans for indoor soccer. The Arena has a history of being a tough place to play for any away team due to the quality of the acoustics enhancing crowd noise and cheers. The Tropics are creating quit the buzz for professional indoor soccer in Central Florida. The team has over 21k followers on Facebook, as well as an established season ticket and sponsorship base.
