JERJER GIBSON LEAVES ST. LOUIS AS SURGERY AWAITS

by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, MO (February 7, 2019) – As he faces surgery and the end of his season, St. Louis Ambush forward Jerjer Gibson asked for, and was granted, release from the team so he, his wife Sam and their four-month-old son Ezekiel could go to Pennsylvania, where family members can be of assistance to his young family while Jerjer recovers.

Gibson suffered a knee injury in a January 5 match against the Florida Tropics at the Family Arena. “At this time I need to be closer to my family as I go through the process of surgery and recovery to prepare myself for next season,” he said. “Thank you to all the fans that have supported and cheered me on for the past two seasons.”

Gibson was a vibrant personality on the team and quickly became a fan favorite. He would frequently take the field with a streak of teal in his hair. At the last home game before Christmas, Gibson’s trademark beard was colored white and he wore a Santa hat during introductions and during the postgame autograph session. Ambush CEO Shelly Clark praised Gibson saying, “Jerjer is one of those players that you can't help but love. He gave us his all, from his passion on the field to the teal in his hair.  We will miss him and hope for a quick recovery.”

Gibson appeared in all 22 Ambush games last season, posting 13 goals and 10 assists. This season before injury struck, he appeared in eight games, tallying four goals and three assists. Prior to joining the Ambush, Gibson played for the Pennsylvania Roar (MISL), Baltimore Blast (MASL), and two seasons with the Syracuse Silver Knights (MASL).

The Ambush are back in action this Saturday, February 9 when the Kansas City Comets invade the Family Arena for a 7:05 p.m. match. For fans unable to catch the game in person, all MASL games are webcast live at masl.tv.

Group and single game tickets are on sale for all Ambush home games. For more information, call the Ambush office at 636-477-6363. Keep up to date on all Ambush news by following the official website, stlambush.com and on Facebook and Twitter.
