by Jim Fossell

St. Charles, Missouri (November 23, 2021) – The St. Louis Ambush have announced the signing of goalkeeper Josue “Sway” Mazon. Per league and team policies, no details of the deal were disclosed.

Ambush fans got a preview of Mazon during the team’s pair of preseason wins this past weekend. Sway played the first half of both games. He shut out the Omaha Kings FC during the first half of Friday’s 9-2 Ambush win, then came back Saturday to allow two goals against the Wichita Wings in the first half of Saturday’s 8-6 victory.

Mazon, a native of Waukegan, Illinois, comes to the Ambush having played in both the MASL and M2 divisions. He appeared in five games with the Orlando SeaWolves (MASL) during the 2019-20 season and five games with the Omaha Kings FC (M2) during the 2020-21 season. Prior to his indoor career in the U.S., Mazon played professionally for both indoor and outdoor teams in Mexico.

Mazon played high school soccer at Waukegan High School, where he holds the school record for shutouts and his team was a Sectional Champion.

Ambush co-owner and General Manager Jeff Locker said, “Sway is another young talent who we look forward to watching develop into one of the stars of the future.”

Mazon said, “I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the St. Louis Ambush. I’m really excited!”

The 2021-22 regular season kicks off at home on Black Friday, November 26, 2021, when the cross-state rival Kansas City Comets invade the Family Arena for a 5:05 p.m. CST match.
