THANK YOU FANS: A MESSAGE FROM AMBUSH CEO SHELLY CLARK
To our Ambush supporters:
It has been a phenomenal year of growth for the Ambush organization. Since Tony Glavin, Dr. Beth Perez and I took the reins in 2016, we’ve had our share of struggles. But we’ve been able to make changes and are starting to see the fruits of our labor. We had 4,750 people at the home opener this past season, which is more than we’ve had at any single game in the past 5 years. We’ve also had our most successful season to date since the rebirth of the Ambush in 2013 by tallying a .417 win percentage.
We continue to strive to put a competitive team on the field. We celebrated the career of player/coach Hewerton, as he played in his last game this season. While his presence on the field will be missed next season, we know that he will continue to grow as a coach and be even more effective from the bench. His years of success on the field will continue to translate to higher win percentages in seasons to come. I would like to thank him and his assistant coaches for their continued involvement with the team.
We have an amazing group of men who make up our Ambush team. They may hail from eight different countries, but they all have a passion to play the game we all love. Not only do they give us 100% when they’re on the field, but they are involved in our communities, in our local youth clubs, and many now call St. Louis their home. A majority of this team is young enough to be called my sons, and I proudly call them my family, and I know many of you feel the same. I am very proud of them and I thank them for choosing the Ambush to call their family.
As hard as we all work and strive to make sure that you – the Ambush fans and family – have a positive experience at our games, we couldn’t do it without the support of the county, management and staff at the Family Arena. We also owe a huge “thank you” to all of our game-day staff, volunteers, photographers and interns for all that they do to ensure that we’re providing a family friendly entertainment option to the St Louis Metro area. I work with amazing people, all of whom I’m proud to call my friends.
Last but certainly not least, we owe you – the fans, the season ticket holders, the youth clubs, the schools, the bands, and dance studios a huge thank you for your continued support and attendance at our games. I find my joy in watching the crowd – seeing you all stand and cheer when a goal is scored; watching your children cheer when their favorite player comes onto the field; seeing families spend time together. The entire organization appreciates your attendance, your engagement and your support. We do this because of you and couldn’t do it without you.
So now that the 2018-19 season is officially over (congratulations to the Ron Newman Cup Champions, the Milwaukee Wave), what’s next? The staff and I have filtered down our “to- do during the offseason” down to 279 items. It includes everything from our playing venue, to players, to theme nights, to community events. We have a busy offseason planned and I can’t wait to share exciting news with you in the upcoming weeks.
This season was amazing but next season is going to be even more awesome as we continue to #RiseAsOne. Thank you for being a part of our Ambush family.
Shelly Clark, CEO & Co-owner
